Lime production without sewage

KFN uses its own sewage treatment facility to create a water cycle

In the course of its lime production, KFN cleans thousands of tons of rock every year. For this, it uses an internal water cycle. Thanks to its own sewage treatment facility, there is no sewage.

In the early 1960s already, KFN inaugurated its first own sewage treatment facility. Since the beginning of the 2000s, a second one is in operation. They are mainly used to recycle water that had emanated from KFN’s own source and had subsequently been used to clean limestone.

More than 5000 cubic meters of water every month

As KFN processes and cleans thousands of tons of rock every year, the sewage facilities of the company are always busy. Every month, more than 5000 cubic meters of water are thus recycled. This translates to about 67 million liters of water that, using the company’s own sewage treatment facilities with its own water cycle, can be used again and again.
