Lump lime (calcium oxide)

In steel production lump lime is commonly used in grain sizes between 5 and 15 mm (nekafer® 15). Lump lime is usually transported in bulk by rail.

In the steel industry nekafer® 15 is used to remove impurities from molten steel. The addition of lump lime helps to incorporate impurities, such as sulphur, phosphorus, manganese and silica into the slag. The process requires reactive lime with the lowest possible content of minor components.
